Baby Product Could Cause Fatalities

Apr 13, 2019 Brown Moore Products Liability

We are learning that a Fisher-Price baby rocker could be deadly for infants. Going back to 2015, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has said that at least 10 infants have lost their lives. The commission is putting out new recommendations for parents and is investigating the product.

At Brown, Moore & Associates, PLLC, our team is ready to get to work if you or a loved one have been harmed due to a faulty product. We want to ensure that you get the compensation you deserve. When you need a Charlotte product liability attorney, call us today.

What Is Happening Here?

Despite there being 10 known fatalities reported due to the Fisher-Price rocker, there has not been a recall. A spokesperson with the CSPC says that the agency will move forward with a recall if their investigation determines that is the best course of action.

  • Are 10 infant deaths not qualifying for a recall?

We are sure that there are many parents out there who are putting this rocker to the side and erring on the side of caution. The CSPC and Fisher-Price recommend that parents stop using the device when the baby is able to roll over, usually around three months of age.

While we await the findings of the investigation, we also want to call your attention to the government website that tracks all current product recalls. There are hundreds of products, all of them deemed possibly unsafe for consumers by various consumer protection agencies like the CSPC or the FDA. When you look, you will see that every industry is affected. This includes:

  • Automotive
  • Appliances
  • Tools
  • Toys
  • Cosmetics
  • Medications
  • Foods
  • Beverages
  • Furniture
  • Cleaners
  • Medical devices
  • And more

Sometimes, a product may cause someone a traumatic injury. Other times, it may cause an illness. In some cases, such as the recent RoundUp case has shown us, illnesses may not present themselves until years, even decades, after using a product.

We know that faulty products generally happen due to one of three things:

Regardless of how a product becomes faulty, it is important that negligent companies and manufacturers are held accountable if their products cause injuries or fatalities.
