Emergency rooms are hectic places by their very nature. Nurses and doctors must make judgment calls regarding diagnosis and treatment while working with patients who have suffered trauma and are in need of immediate care.
Even though emergency rooms are busy places, emergency room doctors and nurses are required by law to follow a high standard of care while diagnosing and treating their patients. When emergency room doctors and nurses act in a negligent manner, or when a hospital does not implement its own emergency procedures, the injured patient or their family may have a valid medical malpractice claim.
